Michael Darr

“The key to a successful project is communication.”

Michael is a fully qualified Carpenter and Joiner with over 25 years in the building and construction industry. Growing up on a farm, he learnt the meaning of ‘hard work’ from a young age and started his trade at the age of 21. Michael completed his training in 1988 and went on to gain valuable skills working under the same builder for the next four years.

In 2002 Michael began working as a Sole Trader, building homes for the local community with a fuss-free attitude. Combining forces with his wife, Gillian, they founded CRJ in September 2006, and haven’t looked back. As founder and lead builder of CRJ Designer Homes, Michael is passionate about home building and design, working tirelessly to ensure our clients are delivered homes they love.

Gillian Darr

Starting out as a junior at a local financial institution, Gillian worked her way up the ranks to become an assistant to the financial advisor. After starting a family, juggling work and family became difficult – so they decided to combine the two and form CRJ. Named after their first two children, CRJ is truly a family business, with both Gillian and Michael bringing heart and soul into building homes for local families.

Gillian is the first point of contact when you phone our office and expertly manages all of the ‘behind the scenes’ administrative and accounting tasks. She also works closely with our customers in the planning stages of a build, assisting with the design and styling of the house plan, as well as various concepts and themes. A self-professed interior design and organisation enthusiast, she loves to take clients shopping to see selections in person and helping them with mood boards and colour choices.

Supporting Michael in the building side of CRJ is a local team of high-quality professional sub-trades.

We carefully select each person that joins our team, using the same sub-contractors on each job in order to closely monitor and control quality. We use only reliable, trusted personnel on each of our sites to ensure that the highest standards in terms of materials, workmanship and service are achieved every time.
